The Michigan Judicial Institute will host “Evaluating Expert Witnesses in Election Cases Webinar” on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom.

This webinar will provide judges with the tools necessary to effectively evaluate proposed expert witnesses in election-related litigation.

Webinar looks at traffic
crash reconstruction


The Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan will present the Traffic Safety Training Program Webinar “An Overview of Traffic Crash Reconstruction” on Thursday, Oct. 10, from noon to 1:30 p.m. via Zoom.

This webinar will provide prosecutors, law enforcement officers, and other traffic safety partners with a better understanding of the following topics:

• A basic overview of the Michigan State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit.

• The different levels of crash investigators in law enforcement.

• The callout process when a crash occurs.

• The tools of the trade.

• Event Data Recorders (EDRs) and what data is recorded and can be recovered

• How to prepare with your crash investigator for court.

The webinar will be presented by Michigan State Police Specialist Sergeant Chad R. Lindstrom.

MDTC plans Meet the Judges evening


Justices of the Michigan Supreme Court, and the judges of the Michigan Court of Appeals, county circuit courts, county district courts, U.S. District Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts, Tribal Appellate Court justices, and Tribal Court judges have been invited to attend the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel’s Meet the Judges event on Thursday, Oct. 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Detroit Golf Club.

The reception will provide an opportunity for members of the judiciary and bar to interact in a friendly and relaxed environment. Hors d’oeuvres will be served and beverages will be provided.  

The event is free to all judicial attendees, $90 for members (member rates apply to staff of MDTC members), $140 for non-members which includes membership fee, and $100 for non-lawyers. Capacity is limited so early registration is encouraged.
