Djangophonique – Gypsy Jazz is set 7:30 p.m., Friday, October 12, at The Block.

Born out of reverence for the Parisian Jazz Manouche style, Djangophonique captivates with their unique blend of gypsy jazz and contemporary vibes. You’ll hear hot swing, lush ballads, jazz standards, boleros, and more.

‘Chicago Collects: Jewelry in Perspective’

The Muskegon Museum of Art will host this exhibit of 200 pieces of historical jewelry and objects from the late 19th and early 20th centuries October 17 through January 5, 2025.

The exhibition, drawn from public and private collections in Chicago, highlights a 19th century jeweled monstrance, a collection of magnificent tiaras, medals of the French kings, gems from the Art Nouveau Movement, and much more.  

Featured designers in the exhibit include Louis Comfort Tiffany, Rene Lalique, and Anne Howe Geyer.

The exhibition is organized by the Driehaus Museum in Chicago.

The Norton Shores Branch of the Muskegon Area District Library will host an evening of lively pre-swing era jazz with the Original Wooden Show Dixieland Band. This a free concert:  no tickets or registration required.This is a Big Read Lakeshore Program, inspired by the 2024 selected book, The Great Gatsby.  The event is set 7 to 8:30 p.m.
