Family Treatment Court focus

The Michigan Judicial Institute will present “Michigan Family Treatment Court Community of Practice (CoP) Series” hosted by Problem-Solving Courts (PSC) on Monday, Oct. 14, 11 a.m. to noon via Zoom.

The Family Treatment Court Community of Practice Series (FTC CoP) will provide opportunities for cross-system, peer-to-peer networking and learning.

FTC teams are encouraged to participate in sharing barriers they are experiencing, gaining knowledge on pertinent topics, offering support through challenges, and brainstorming solutions.

This training does not offer CEU, CLE or MCJE credits.

For registration information, contact PSC@courts.mi.gov.  After registering, participants will receive a separate e-mail with the Zoom credentials, 24-48 hours before the training.


State Bar presents
Lawyer Trust Account Webinar


Michigan attorneys will be able to learn how to ethically manage lawyer trust accounts during the State Bar of Michigan’s half-day virtual Lawyer Trust Account Webinar on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

The session will cover management principles, recordkeeping resources for client and third-party funds, and practical information regarding MRPC 1.15 and 1.15A.

Scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon, the webinar is open to members of the bar and their legal staff.

The cost is $25 for lawyers, other legal professionals, law students, and unlicensed graduates.  Payment and completed registration must be received by 5 p.m. Friday, October 11. All materials will be emailed to the registered email address approximately one week prior to the seminar.  To register, visit www.michbar.org/trustaccounts.

Volunteer opportunity offered by ALA


The Association of Legal Administrators, Metropolitan Detroit Chapter, will take part in a volunteer opportunity on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 8:45 a.m. to noon at Forgotten Harvest in Oak Park.

Volunteers are needed to help pack emergency food boxes, re-pack or sort fresh nutritious food that will be distributed through Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb County.  
ALA has 20 volunteer spots to fill.  

Forgotten Harvest fights hunger and food insecurity by delivering 144,000 pounds of surplus food per day to local charities five days a week.
