Alexander J. Thibodeau has joined Warner Norcross + Judd LLP as an associate.
Thibodeau concentrates his practice on business law and is a member of Warner’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group. He represents clients in construction, real estate, insurance, commercial disputes and emerging technologies, providing strategy and tactical guidance to clients navigating high-stakes disputes. He is based in the firm’s Grand Rapids office.
Prior to joining Warner, Thibodeau was a senior leader and appointments division director within the Executive Office of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. In this role, he oversaw and engaged with more than 2,300 gubernatorial appointees across all regions in Michigan, spanning a wide range of issues including economic development, education, law, public safety, health care, agriculture, professional licensure and interest advocacy. He also collaborated with leadership teams in various state government agencies.
Thibodeau previously worked at other law firms, practicing in general litigation and handling commercial, insurance, telecommunication, mobility and regulatory matters. He was a summer clerk for Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Robert P. Young Jr. and an international fellow for the Supreme Court of India through the Stewart International Fellowship.
Thibodeau serves as a trustee for the Grand Rapids Bar Association and as chair of its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. He also serves on the Young Lawyers Advisory Council for the State Bar of Michigan, where he leads the Pro Bono Committee. He serves on the board of trustees and corporate committee for the Grand Rapids Art Museum.
He earned a law degree from Indiana University’s Maurer School of Law, where he was notes editor for the Indiana Journal of Law and Social Equality and served on the editorial board for the Indiana Journal of Constitutional Design.
