Jackson Police Department issues warning to residents of a recent phone scam

The Jackson Police Department (JPD) is informing residents about a phone scam.

On Wednesday, Nov. 13, officers became aware of residents receiving phone calls from suspects representing themselves as members of JPD and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.

The bogus callers say they're a police officer who is looking for someone with pending legal matters and if a debt isn't paid, they will either issue a warrant or come arrest the person.

A call back number is also given during the message.

Jackson officers want residents to know that JPD would never call someone and demand payment in any form.

If anyone in the community has questions about this phone scam, they should reach out to JPD at 517-788-4100.
