28-Day Sailboat Trip Down Mississippi, Ohio Rivers,
Large Lakes, Offers Former Climax Resident Many Memories
Former Climax resident Bill Soule must have felt a little like Huck Fin and the cast of Gilligan’s Island on a 28-day sailboat venture that took him across two large lakes, and down three major rivers on a journey that ended prematurely Nov. 7.
Soule, who was born on R Avenue and lived in Climax for 25 years with his wife Maris before the couple moved to Kalamazoo in 2001, said he gradually developed an ambition to sail from the couple’s current home in South Haven to Venice, Florida.
Zach Wortinger is MVP of G-A Tennis Team

C-S JV Basketball Team Etches Its Name In
Panther Record Books With Perfect 20-0 Season
There are so many ingredients that go into a winning season, but when you go through an entire season without suffering a loss, there’s a lot that has to go right and most importantly, the team has to work hard and play well together.
The Climax-Scotts JV basketball team displayed all of the characteristics that are associated with an undefeated team, and the result was a perfect 20-0 season. The Panthers put the final touches on a remarkable season Nov. 11 with a 62-30 win over Centreville at C-S Jr./Sr. High School.
It is believed this year’s squad is the first Panther JV girls basketball team to go undefeated in a season since the mid 1970s when a C-S team posted a 12-0 record.
Panthers Can’t Overcome Slow Start In District Setback
Cold shooting for long stretches or one bad quarter have been the trademark of the Climax-Scotts varsity basketball team for most of the year, and the pattern continued Monday evening when Covert garnered a 54-46 win over C-S at C-S Jr./Sr. High School in a Class D District Tournament opener.
The Panthers, who complete the season with a 3-18 record, were led by Sallie Bowman’s 11 points. Christina Elwell scored nine points, Miranda Bishop added eight, Katie Moreland scored six points, Jodi Veenkant added four, Jeanelle Longman scored three points, Erin Bailey and Jamie Robbins each scored two points and Jessie Loegel scored one point.

From The November 25, 1949 Climax CrescentTooth Inspection In Climax Township Schools Completed
Dental inspections of all children in the Climax school and the Scotts school - 478 of them from kindergarten thru 12th grade has been completed by J. B. Johnson. D. D. S. Public Health Dentist and Miss Lorenza Holland Dental Hygienist.
18% of the children from Climax and 28% from Scotts have teeth which need emergency care. This means that their teeth are in such bad condition that they can no longer even be saved. In many instances the roots are all that remain in the mouth and these roots must be extracted to prevent possible infection.
An additional 32% from Climax and 35% from Scotts have teeth which need to be filled immediately. That means that they have holes in their teeth but the teeth can still be saved if the decay is stopped now. Given time to continue decaying these teeth also will soon be too bad to save.
