Pretrial conference in homicide case scheduled for December 20

A pretrial conference in the Village of Climax homicide case has been scheduled for December 20 at 1:30 p.m. in Court 5400.

According to court documents, Adam Gerard Lyons, of 120 North Main Street, Climax, was charged with open murder for the alleged killing of Nichole Doerschler, two weapons and felony firearm charges and one charge of killing/torturing an animal in the third degree at an arraignment hearing October 29.

Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey Williams said because Lyons waived his preliminary examination, there will be no additional hearings in the District Court and the case has been bound over to the 9th Judicial Circuit Court.

The case has been assigned to Judge Paul J. Bridenstine in Court 5400.

According to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office, a female and dog were found deceased in the 100 block of North Main Street October 26.
