State Bar of Michigan schedules 5 ethics seminars throughout 2025


The State Bar of Michigan is offering several webinars throughout 2025 to help Michigan attorneys perform their best.

The Tips and Tools webinars feature presentations on how to maintain client relationships, draft effective fee agreements, analyze ethical issues, and use innovative techniques and technology for effective law office management. The seminars are an excellent opportunity for solo practitioners and new lawyers to obtain ethical guidance and practical information from experienced colleagues.

Two Tips and Tools webinars are planned. They are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on April 8 and October 28, 2025. Registration costs $50. For more information, visit the Tips and Tools website.

The State Bar’s Lawyer Trust Accounts webinars focus on the ethical management of lawyer trust accounts, including the analysis used in processing client or third-party funds and an in-depth focus on recordkeeping requirements. Open to lawyers and their staff, it is an excellent opportunity for participants to receive practical information regarding MRPC 1.15 and 1.15A.

Three Lawyer Trust Account webinars are planned. They are scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon March 11, June 24, and October 21, 2025. Registration costs $25. You can learn more and register at the Lawyer Trust Account website.

Third Judicial Circuit closed for regular operations Dec. 24 – Jan. 1


The Third Circuit Court will be closed Wednesday, December 25 in observance of Christmas Day.

The Court will be open for essential services only on Thursday, December 26, Friday, December 27, and Monday, December 30. These essential services include criminal arraignments, probation violation and failure to appear warrants, personal protection orders, parental waivers, and other emergency civil and family division matters. The County Clerk's office will remain open to accept domestic relations pleadings and new case filings from 8:00 a.m. -4:30 p.m. on those days.

The Court will be closed on Tuesday, December 30 and Wednesday, January 1, 2024 in observance of New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. The Court will reopen for all services on Thursday, January 2, 2025. For emergency matters please call 313-967-2002.
