Eight members of the Climax-Scotts-Martin co-op wrestling team qualified for the Division 4 Individual State Finals February 28 - March 1 with top four finishes at the Division 4 Individual Regionals February 15 at Martin High School.
C-S senior Logan Gilbert (120-pound weight class) and Martin junior Haylen Buell (144), both placed first, C-S senior Jackson Bagwell (157), C-S senior Sam Bleeker (215), and Martin freshman Urijah Joosberns (113) each placed second, C-S senior Cole Reitz (132), and Martin senior Jayce Ritchie (138) both placed third and Martin senior Jakub Tomyslak (165) placed fourth.
C-S-M recorded the most pins at the tournament with 12, two more then Bronson.
Gilbert, who won his first two matches by pins and won the championship match by a 17-2 technical fall, increased his career win total to 184, entering the Team State Finals at Wings Stadium February 21 and 22, just four behind school record holder Jordan Tutt, who had a 188-37 career record. Gilbert will enter the Team Finals with a 37-5 record.
Buell, now 47-4, won his first two matches by pins and won the championship match by an injury.
Bagwell (34-16), Bleeker (36-14), and Joostberns (29-11) were all 2-1, Reitz (31-12) and Ritchie (138) were both 3-1, and Tomyslak was 2-2.
The top 8 placers at the Individual State Finals earn All-State medals.
