Supreme Court Historical Society to host annual luncheon April 29

The 19th Annual Membership Luncheon of the Michigan Supreme Court Historical Society will be held on Thursday, April 29, at the Detroit Athletic Club.

The Historical Society Luncheon is held in honor of the justices of the Michigan Supreme Court. In attendance at the luncheon will be all seven of the current Michigan Supreme Court justices as well as several former justices of the Court. Chief Justice Marilyn Kelly will provide introductory remarks.

The luncheon begins with a short reception at 11:30 a.m. The program features a legal vignette on Michigan’s County Courthouses by author John Fedynsky.

The luncheon is open to anyone interested in Michigan’s legal history. The cost is $35.00 per person or $280.00 for a table of eight. The Michigan Supreme Court Historical Society was founded in 1988 by Dorothy Comstock Riley during her term as Chief Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court. A nonprofit organization, the Society preserves documents, records, and memorabilia relating to the Michigan Supreme Court. It also produces publications, special events, and other projects to achieve its goals in education and restoration.

The Society commissions official portraits of retired Supreme Court Justices. The collection of more than 80 portraits is maintained by the Society and the art is displayed in various locations throughout the state.
