Attorney Brian P. Henry, senior manager for Community Services and Business Development at Orlans Associates, will present at the 2010 Young Lawyers Section Annual Summit, June 4-6, at the Grand Traverse Resort in Acme. Representing the State Bar of Michigan Real Property Section, Henry’s topic is “Loan Modifications and other Loss Mitigation Tools for Residential Mortgage Loans.”

With more than 28 years of expertise in real estate law, business law and commercial litigation, Henry works with homeowners, lenders, nonprofit organizations and legislators to develop and improve programs and processes for loan modifications, early redemptions, short sales and other loss mitigation tools.

Dickinson Wright PLLC congratulates attorney Tammy L. Helminski for receiving a Horizon Award from Fusion, the Detroit Regional Chamber’s young professionals program. Helminski is an associate in Dickinson Wright’s Detroit office.

More than 100 nominations were received for the Horizon Awards in each of nine industry categories. Winners were recognized for their professional accomplishments and outstanding work within the community. Helminski was the Young Professional winner in the Professional Services category.

Helminski focuses her practice in environmental litigation, and energy and sustainability law. She serves as counsel to manufacturers, lenders and developers for environmental cleanup, compliance and due diligence issues, and counsels clients on the implementation of sustainability strategies, green building and environmentally preferable purchasing. Helminski is active in the Air and Waste Management Association and is chair of the State Bar Environmental Law Section Hazardous Substances and Brownfields Committee.

April L. Neihsl was a speaker at the 25th Annual National Conference on Equine Law on April 28, 2010, in Lexington, Kentucky. Neihsl’s presentation focused on damages in tort and contract litigation.

The National Conference on Equine Law is the world’s largest continuing legal education program devoted exclusively to a wide variety of equine law issues. It is organized by the University of Kentucky College of Law Office of Continuing Legal Education. This year’s conference brought registrants from 27 states and Europe.

Neihsl focuses her law practice in the areas of insurance defense, commercial litigation, and equine law. She is an associate for Julie I. Fershtman, and both are Of Counsel to the Farmington Hills law firm of Zausmer, Kaufman, August, Caldwell, & Tayler PC.

She attended Wayne State University Law School, graduating in 2006. She earned a Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University in 2003. A member of the State Bar of Michigan and the Oakland County Bar Association, she is a member of the State Bar of Michigan Representative Assembly.

Potestivo & Associates PC, a legal services provider to the default servicing industry, is pleased to announce the hiring of new associate attorney, Cory Bainbridge. Brian A. Potestivo, president and founder, made the announcement. Bainbridge earned his Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University, where he majored in Human Resource Management. Prior to joining Potestivo & Associates, Bainbridge worked as a solo practitioner at Bainbridge Law PLLC focusing on family law, estate planning, and landlord tenant/real property matters.

Honigman, Miller, Schwartz, and Cohn LLP (Honigman) is pleased to announce that Salmaan T. Quader has joined the firm as an attorney in the Litigation Department. He will be located in Honigman’s Oakland County office.

Quader concentrates his practice on intellectual property litigation in the areas of patent, trade secret and other technology-related subjects. His patent prosecution experience relates to molecular biology and medical device inventions.

Quader earned his law degree from the Michigan State University (MSU) College of Law and will receive a Ph.D. from the Michigan State University College of Natural Science pending thesis revisions. Additionally, he received an M.S. with a concentration in cancer biology, a B.A. in English and a B.S. in Biochemistry from MSU.

He has been admitted to the State Bar of Illinois and his admittance to the State Bar of Michigan is pending. Quader comes to Honigman from Howrey LLP.
