Italian American Bar Assoc. of Michigan hosts Winter Gala
The Italian American Bar Association of Michigan (IABAM) is hosting its annual Winter Gala at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3, at The Detroit Athletic Club, located at 241 Madison in Detroit. 

The Winter Gala will feature hors d’oeuvres, premium bar, dinner, and dessert bar. 

The event also will feature live music and entertainment.  A highlight of the evening will be the presentation of scholarships and awards.  The ticket price is $100 per person or $1,000 for a table of ten.  The ticket price for students is $50 per person.  The event is black tie optional.

ALSP to hold panel discussion on early case assessment
The Association of Litigation Support Professionals Michigan Chapter will hold a panel discussion on the topic of Early Case Assessment from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16 at the offices of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, 645 Griswold Street, Suite 1356. The panel discussion will examine ECA from the attorneys’ position, the judicial perspective, as well as commentary from a national service provider specializing in high–value eDiscovery technology and services that cut review time and help you reduce expenses. The presentation will include the following panelists: Hon. Mark A. Randon, from the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan; Jay Yelton, Esq., from the law firm of Miller Canfield; Michael Hindelang, Esq., from the law firm of Honigman Miller; and Brendan Ansier, from Epiq Systems. Lunch will be provided. The event is free to all ALSP members; there is a $20 fee for non-members, payable by cash or check at the door. Eric Carver elected FEPCMD secretary and treasurer
Eric Carver, a Member of Dykema’s Taxation and Estate and Corporate Finance Departments, was elected Secretary and Treasurer of the Financial and Estate Planning Council of Metropolitan Detroit (FEPCMD), effective January 1, 2011. Carver has served for the last five years on the FEPCMD’s Board of Directors. He was elected unanimously to serve a one-year term for both offices. The election took place at the FEPCMD’s Annual meeting on November 9.

“I’m pleased to take on these responsibilities because I believe the work the FEPCMD does is valuable to our clients, our communities and our profession,” said Carver. “I look forward to continuing to work with the Board of directors to achieve the Council’s goals.”
