Wayne County Friend of the Court offers bench warrant amnesty

Wayne County Friend of the Court is offering amnesty on bench warrants for those in arrears on child support. From May 1 – 24, payers who appear and pay 1 percent or $250, whichever is greater, toward their child support arrearage will receive amnesty.
Qualified payers will not be arrested, but the court does not guarantee that warrants not related to child support would not be enforced. The program does not eliminate the amount of child support you owe and does not affect current payments. It also does not eliminate any surcharges or fees. The Friend of the Court can only resolve your Wayne County child support warrant.
You must appear in person at the Wayne County Friend of the Court on the second floor of the Penobscot Building, 645 Griswold in downtown Detroit and bring photo identifications and income information. The hours for the program are 8 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. from Wednesday, May 1, through Friday, May 24, with extended hours until 5:45 p.m. from Friday, May 17, through Thursday, May 23.
You must bring $250 or 1 percent of your arrearage, whichever is greater, in cash or money order to qualify for this program.
More amnesty information is available online at www.3rdcc.org and Friend of the Court account information can be found at www.micase.com. The site can also tell you the status of your account. Service representatives will also be available at the Friend of the Court Call Center at 313-224-5300.
