Music legends to perform at foster children's charity event on June 1

Internationally-renowned music legends Sean Blackman and Wayne Gerard’s current project, Sin Hielo, and the very popular metro-Detroit area band Emerging Soul have agreed to perform at an upcoming June 1 event to benefit foster children.

Sin Hielo and Emerging Soul will take the indoor and outdoor stages at the Roostertail starting at 7 p.m. as part of In Seventh Heaven, the annual fundraising gala for foster-children’s charity For The Seventh Generation.

WDIV’s Ashlee Baracy will be the evening’s emcee.

For The Seventh Generation is a project of the DMBA Foundation in cooperation with the 3rd Judicial Circuit of Michigan and the Michigan Department of Human Services that matches donors of goods and professional services to foster children in need in metro Detroit. Most recently, FTSG facilitated a partnership between the University of Detroit Mercy’s School of Dentistry and the Detroit Department of Human Services to provide orthodontic treatment to all permanent wards of the court in Wayne County.

“We’re excited to have such high-caliber, popular performers for this year’s event,” said Sonya Mastick, an In Seventh Heaven volunteer organizer and founder of Play It Forward, For The Seventh Generation’s program that provides free musical instruments and lessons to children in foster care. “Sean has sold out Orchestra Hall, and every venue that Emerging Soul plays is packed. I strongly suggest that people get their tickets early this year.”

“I want to thank our committee for their work in signing Sin Hielo and Emerging Soul for this year’s event,” said For The Seventh Generation Executive Director Lorraine Weber. “This is our second year at the Roostertail, and I won’t be surprised if we sell out thanks entirely to the fantastic musicians who are coming on board for our cause.”

Tickets for the 2013 In Seventh Heaven event at the Roostertail include live music courtesy of Sin Hielo and Emerging Soul, a multiple-course, gourmet strolling supper and a complementary beer and wine bar. Tickets are $100 before May 24 ($125 after May 24) and are available online through the For The Seventh Generation website at:
www.fortheseventhgeneration.org. A group discount of four tickets for $80 per ticket is also available.

According to Weber, the In Seventh Heaven committee has decided on the sponsorship levels and benefits for this year’s event.

“With our expanded social media presence we’ll be able to give our sponsors an extra publicity boost this year,” Weber explained.

Weber invited potential In Seventh Heaven sponsors to contact her via email at lweber@detroitlawyer.org or by phone at (313) 961-6120, ext. 206.
