Third Circuit’s website updated to add more user-friendly features

The Third Judicial Circuit of Michigan, which covers all of Wayne County and delivers criminal, family and civil judicial services, is offering new user-friendly features on the court’s website, www.3rdcc.org.

Two of the greatest conveniences offered on the website are the online jury questionnaire and the ability to pay child support and court fees. More than 30,000 people are summoned for jury duty each year and there are more than 200,000 child support payers with Wayne County cases. Business can now be transacted from a computer or smartphone with a click of a button.
The public also has the ability to follow the Third?Judicial Circuit of Michigan on Twitter@3rdccorg.

Judges to be honored at RESTORE reception

A spring reception for The RESTORE Foundation will take place Tuesday, May 6 from 5-8 p.m. at the Iroquois Club, 43248 Woodward Ave. in Bloomfield Hills.
A group of attorneys, otherwise known as “The Big Ten,” will serve as unofficial sponsors of the reception, which is a fund-raiser for the drug court programs in Oakland County. The “Big Ten” attorneys include Tom Ryan, Robert Badgley, Kurt Schnelz, Kelly Allen, Albert Holtz, Donald McGinnis, Jose Fanego, James Williams, Larry Russell, and Robert Kostin.
The May 6 event will feature an Academy Awards theme, according to retired Oakland County Circuit Judge Edward Sosnick, who serves as president of The RESTORE Foundation, the nonprofit organization created in 2008 to provide financial support for the drug courts.
The three drug court judges – Colleen O’Brien, Joan Young, and Mary Ellen Brennan – will be honored at the reception.
“They are among the unsung heroes of the program and volunteer their time to the cause of helping (drug court) participants overcome their battles with substance abuse,” Sosnick said of the three honorees.
Tickets for the event, which includes appetizers donated by Talmer Bank and Trust, can be purchased online at www.therestorefoundation.org or at the door.
