 Wayne County Circuit judge to speak to male training group in Calif.

Wayne County Circuit Judge Richard Halloran will be participating this weekend in Los Angeles, CA in a training for men who work with groups of men around the issues of men and masculinity. The training is being sponsored by the organization Mastery in Transformational Training in Marina Del Ray. Judge Halloran will be speaking about his 25 years’ experience in working with men’s groups, especially with the issues of violence and domestic abuse.

 

Fershtman awarded the SBM’s Michael Franck Award

Julie I. Fershtman, a shareholder with Foster Swift Collins & Smith, PC, was selected as the 2014 recipient of the State Bar of Michigan’s Michael Franck Award. She was presented with the award during the Representative Assembly meeting at the State Bar Annual Meeting on Thursday September 18. 
 
The Michael Franck Award is an annual award given to “an attorney who has made an outstanding contribution to the improvement of the profession.” 

Fershtman is a past president of the 43,000-member State Bar of Michigan. She practices in the areas of general insurance defense, insurance coverage, business litigation, premises liability, sporting and recreational liability and equine law.
Additionally, she is a Trustee of the Michigan State Bar Foundation, and a Trustee of the Michigan Supreme Court Historical Society. A frequent author and speaker on legal issues, Fershtman has written over 250 published articles, three books, and has lectured at seminars, conventions and conferences in 28 states on issues involving law, liability, risk management and insurance. 
 

Dickinson Wright to hold seminar on HIPAA

Dickinson Wright PLLC will host “Are You HIPAA-Notized Yet? The Latest Insights and Developments” on Friday, Sept. 26, in Troy. The event will kick off with registration and  continental breakfast at 7:30 a.m. with the seminar running from 8 to 11 a.m.
