For the second consecutive year, University of Michigan Law School alumni have been named the Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40 by the National LGBT Bar Association. And for the second year, Michigan Law-with five graduates-is the most-represented law school on the list.
Recipients of this distinction are recognized by the LGBT Bar as those who have distinguished themselves in their field and have demonstrated a profound commitment to LGBT equality.
This year's honorees are Anna Baldwin, a trial attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Voting Section; Tim Caballero, counsel at NBCUniversal; Emma Cheuse, a staff attorney with Earthjustice; Robert Koch, a trial attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division; and Mike Schultz, an associate at Foley & Lardner LLP. They will be recognized at the LGBT Bar's Lavender Law Conference and Career Fair on August 6 in Chicago.
William Tran, who will be participating in the Lavender Law conference as a workshop panelist on intellectual property, was one of four Michigan Law alumni named to the Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40 list in 2014. He's looking forward to sharing the recognition with this year's Michigan Law awardees.
"I've been attending this conference since I was a 3L at Michigan, so it was a great honor to be recognized at the event last year," said Tran, senior counsel, production legal in the Television Entertainment Group at NBCUniversal. "And it's so exciting that the tradition is continuing this year with even more Michigan alumni receiving the honor."
The National LGBT Bar Association is a national association of lawyers, judges and other legal professionals, law students, activists, and affiliated lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender legal organizations. The LGBT Bar promotes justice in and through the legal profession for the LGBT community in all its diversity.
