Wayne Law students take oath to work in clinics, externships

Wayne State University Law School second- and third-year students take an oath Tuesday, Jan. 19, in preparation for their work with the law school’s clinics and externships.

Second- and third-year students working in Wayne State University Law School’s clinics and externships for winter semester 2016 participated in a swearing-in ceremony Tuesday, Jan. 19.

The Hon. Marilyn Kelly, Wayne Law class of 1971, retired Michigan Supreme Court justice, Wayne Law’s distinguished jurist in residence and WSU Board of Governors member, administered the oath. Speaking at the event were Wayne Law Dean Jocelyn Benson and alumna Lori Buiteweg, Wayne Law class of 1990, president of the State Bar of Michigan.

Wayne Law’s clinics and externship programs integrate theory and practice for law students while helping real clients; the opportunities include:
