‘Path to a Diverse Jury Panel’ focus of webinar June 1

The National Center for State Courts will present the webinar on “The Path to a Diverse Jury Panel” on Wednesday, June 1, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. via Zoom.

Getting juries to reflect the nation’s diverse population so people are judged by their peers has been a struggle for many states.  The webinar’s panel will discuss how a jury selection process impacts the goal of achieving a diverse panel and what specific factors have stood in the way of that goal or have helped achieve a more inclusive jury.  Specific jury engagement practices that can enhance the inclusion of eligible members from diverse communities will be addressed.

The panelists include:

• Prof. Nina Chernoff, CUNY School of Law

•Dr. Betty L. Campbell, Commissioner of Jurors, Westchester, New York

• Moderator: Judge Sharon Greer, Iowa Court of Appeals

This webinar series is presented by the Blueprint for Racial Justice Systemic Change Work Group.
