Nessel to co-host second Robocall Summit with NAAG

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost will again set aside their interstate “rivalry” when they team to host the 2022 Robocall Summit, sponsored by the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG).

The conference, set to take place July 12-13 at the Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit, will include attorneys general from across the country, with events on July 12 open to law enforcement, government officials and government employees and events on July 13 open to the public. Anyone with an interest in the robocall problem is invited to attend Day 2 of the conference.

“I’m proud to again partner with AG Yost and reinforce our commitment to combating robocalls,” Nessel said. “Michiganders can continue to report these nuisance calls through our robocall complaint form to support us in this ongoing effort.”

The Michigan Department of Attorney General’s robocall complaint form is available online. In April, Nessel partnered with YouMail, a platform that engages traceback technology to assist in determining the source of robocalls, to take action against these illegals calls to the next level.

Said Yost: “Since its inception, my office’s Robocall Enforcement Unit has fielded more than 69,000 complaints of unwanted nuisance calls. By joining together with colleagues across the country, we hope to disconnect robocallers for good.”

Earlier this month, Nessel and Yost joined a bipartisan group of 41 attorneys general commending the Federal Communications Committee for its leadership in combatting the scourge of robocalls and sharing their commitment to working collaboratively with the FCC via information-sharing agreements.
