GST MI Works! is recognized for its commitment to Michigan workers through Registered Apprenticeship Programs

The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO), in partnership with the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) Office of Apprenticeship in Michigan, recognizes GST Michigan Works! for its commitment to advancing the state’s current and future workforce with the use of Registered Apprenticeships.

GST Michigan Works! was honored for its efforts to assist employers in determining skill needs and workforce trends and working with them to develop apprenticeship programs registered through the USDOL Office of Apprenticeship in Michigan. “We are so proud of our apprenticeship department’s work under Wanda Bigelow’s leadership and vision,” said GST MI Works! CEO Jody Kerbyson. “She has created a streamlined process to assist employers with expanding apprenticeships at their facilities with ease. This has increased the number of apprenticeships and expanded the sectors in which they are available. We look forward to continuing this great work.”

Registered Apprenticeships are industry-driven, high-quality career training programs in which employers develop and prepare Michigan’s future workforce. Upon program completion, apprentices gain paid work experience, related classroom instruction, and a national industry-recognized credential. The programs help employers begin an immediate transfer of knowledge from current to future high-value workers. Workers get a paycheck from day one while building the right skills in a new career.

“The GST Michigan Works! apprenticeship team is here to assist with recruitment needs by working with employers to create customized apprenticeship programs,” said Wanda Bigelow, Apprenticeship Manager for GST MI Works!
