Ver Beek reappointed to Attorney Discipline Board
Varnum attorney Carl E. Ver Beek has been reappointed by the Michigan Supreme Court to a three-year term on the Attorney Discipline Board. Ver Beek was appointed for his first term in 2008. The Board consists of six attorneys and three laypersons appointed by the Michigan Supreme Court.
The Attorney Discipline Board appoints hearing panels addressing formal complaints against members of the State Bar alleging misconduct, and hears petitions for review of decisions by the hearing panels, among other duties.
Ver Beek has practiced law at Varnum for nearly 50 years. His practice focuses on various aspects of labor and employment relations. He has mediated and/or arbitrated hundreds of cases for the National Center for Dispute Settlement, Michigan Employment Rela-tions Commission, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), The Dispute Resource Center of West Michigan, and the National Arbitration Forum.
VerBeek has been active in the American Bar Association (including the Council of the Labor and Employment Section and the Council of the Dispute Resolution Section), State Bar of Michigan and the Grand Rapids Bar Association, holding numerous leadership positions. He is a former chair of the Attorney Grievance Commission.
A frequent speaker at the Institute for Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) and American and State Bar meetings on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and at Labor Arbitration Institute forums,Ver Beek has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 1989 and Who’s Who in American Law.
