Foster Swift welcomes attorney Barbra E. Homier

Foster Swift Collins and Smith PC is excited to welcome Attorney Barbra Homier to its Grand Rapids office. She will join the general litigation practice group and concentrate her practice in family law including divorce, adoption and custody matters.

Prior to joining Foster Swift, Homier practiced law at Varnum LLP for almost 10 years, where she was a partner.

“Barbra has developed an outstanding reputation for advocacy, integrity and professionalism. She is held in high esteem by her colleagues in the Family Law Bar and judges throughout West Michigan before whom she has appeared,” said Attorney Frederick D. Dilley of Foster Swift, who handles many of the firm's family law matters.

A seasoned family law practitioner, Homier handles a wide array of family law related matters, including extensive experience in divorces involving business interests and unique marital property interests, such as patents. She is also a family law mediator and collaborative divorce lawyer. Collaborative divorce is a legal process where couples who decide to separate sign an agreement to achieve a settlement best meeting the needs of both parties and their children without the threat of litigation. The process often involves additional professionals such as a neutral financial advisor or family counselor.

Homier’s professional involvements include membership in the Michigan Board of Accountancy, Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, and International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. She is also involved with the Collaborative Practice Institute of Michigan and has completed family law mediator training.

Homier graduated from Michigan State University College of Law, summa cum laude, and received her bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona.
