New attorneys join Barnes & Thornburg’s Grand Rapids office

Barnes & Thornburg’s Grand Rapids office has expanded with the addition of two attorneys.

Todd A. Dixon
has moved to the Grand Rapids office after practicing in the firm’s Indianapolis office for more than four years. His practice focuses on aviation law and covers a wide range of aviation and commercial litigation matters. Dixon counsels clients on tax-related aviation issues including federal excise tax planning, state sales and use tax planning, and depreciation planning. He frequently advises aircraft owners and operators on aviation insurance coverage matters, regulatory requirements, warranty matters and ongoing service obligations.

Dixon also represents clients in complex aviation lawsuits and in commercial, product, tort, insurance and government litigation matters.

Joseph D. Hess joins the firm as an associate and a member of the Labor and Employment Law Department. Hess counsels and defends employers and managers across all industries in a variety of pre-litigation and litigation matters, including discrimination and wage and hour issues. His practice also involves handling traditional labor matters under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), including multiple facets of collective bargaining and defending against unfair labor practice charges.

Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Hess was in private practice in Michigan; he also had been a law clerk for the late Judge Lawrence P. Zatkoff of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
