Former U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade endorses Pat Miles for Attorney General

Calling him the “right choice to serve as the People’s Lawyer”, former U.S. Attorney for The Eastern District of Michigan Barbara McQuade formally endorsed Pat Miles and his run to become Michigan’s next  Attorney General today.

McQuade – now serving as a professor at the University of Michigan Law School – said Miles, her counterpart when she served as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District – was ready to lead Michigan into a new era where citizens come first.

“No one – on either side of the aisle – has the experience and preparation to be Michigan’s next Attorney General that Pat Miles has,” McQuade said. “He has a record of fighting crime—violent crime and financial crimes, as well.  And he has the right values, starting with a deep commitment to justice for all, not just the privileged few.  Pat Miles will be ready on Day One and has my full support.”

Miles – who served as U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan under President Obama – has a strong record and did not hesitate to accept the call to serve as U.S. Attorney under President Obama.

Miles said as AG, he will protect consumers from bad-actor businesses and taxpayers from fraud, take on government corruption, and combat the opioid epidemic.

“No job prepares you more to be Michigan’s Attorney General than U.S. Attorney and Barb McQuade knows exactly what that is like,” Miles said. “I am humbled by her endorsement and will work tirelessly to convince the voters of Michigan that I am worthy of their trust.”

As reported in the 10/4/17 Grand Rapids Legal News, McQuade also won one of the Frank J. Kelley Distinguished Service Awards from the State Bar of Michigan this year.
