Peter Cummings joins Bodman

Patent and intellectual property attorney Peter A. Cummings has joined Bodman’s Grand Rapids office. Bodman has also established a Patent Practice Group.

Cummings has more than ten years of experience helping clients protect new technologies and products. He counsels clients on domestic and foreign patent procurement strategies and patent and trademark portfolio management. He prepares and prosecutes patent applications in a wide range of mechanical and electromechanical technologies. He also advises clients on patentability and freedom-to-operate issues and on transactional matters involving the development, use, and ownership of intellectual property assets.  His clients range from multinational manufacturers and technology-driven companies to start-ups and entrepreneurs. He has particular experience advising clients in the automotive, consumer electronics, medical device, concrete formwork, and general manufacturing industries.

A graduate of Michigan State University College of Law, Cummings earned his undergrad degree  from MSU.

He is a member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association (Intellectual Property Section), the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Michigan Intellectual Property Law Association, and the American Bar Association and has been honored as a Grand Rapids Magazine “Top Lawyer” for Intellectual Property.
