Fair parking fuels funds for nonprofits at United Way Center

Fair goers can help the community by parking at the United Way Center during fair week, through Aug. 13.

Several local nonprofits will collect parking fees and donations to help Jackson County families in need.

"Times are tough, and nonprofits are counting each nickel and dime, trying to make ends meet," said Bruce VanEyck, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sister of Jackson County.

"We thank everyone who makes a donation while visiting the Fair, and I especially thank our wonderful volunteers who collect the contributions. Our kids will benefit from every penny we raise."

Big Brothers Big Sisters is one of seven Jackson County nonprofits who will collect donations by parking cars during fair week.

Other nonprofits that will raise funds include the Jackson County Imagination Library, LifeSpan, Jackson County Genealogical Society, Marriage Matters Jackson, Nonprofit Network, and United Way of Jackson County.

Most of the organizations are located within the United Way Center campus.

The United Way Center is conveniently located at 536 North Jackson, just across the street from the fairgrounds.

Parking lot entrances are available from both West Ganson and North Jackson Streets. Parking is only $5.

The United Way of Jackson County is in its 76th year of serving the Jackson community.

It supports over forty different programs and initiatives that provide thousands of Jackson County residents the opportunity for a better life.
