Judges honored in Jackson

The Honorable Robert E. Weiss Awards are given for service to families

The Michigan Supreme Court presented awards for excellence in service to children and families during the Adoption & Permanency Forum Sept. 27 at the Commonwealth Commerce Center in downtown Jackson.

The Honorable Robert E. Weiss Awards are named for the long time family court judge from Flint known for his work on behalf of children.

Butts thanks his team. As chief judge of the Cheboygan County Probate Court, Butts leads the Cheboygan County Child Protection Mediation Team which was presented with the award for Excellence in Working as a Team.

The Honorable Robert E.Weiss Award for Excellence in Creative Solutions was presented to Oakland County led by Judge Joan E.Young of the 6th Circuit Court Family Division (above left).

Other awards went to Judge Timothy Connors of the Washtenaw County Circuit Court and the Kent County Interagency Adoption Resoucr Committee led by 17th Circuit Probate Judge Patricia Gardner.
