New cameras offer a look at Jackson?s weather conditions

Viewers of weather broadcasts on Lansing television station WILX-TV will get a view from above of mid-Michigan communities as Consumers Energy sponsors the Weather Authority SkyCam Network.

The first cameras at Sparrow Hospital and Consumers Energy’s headquarters in downtown Jackson started operating Monday, Oct. 21.

“Our promise to Michigan is to deliver the energy you need, whenever you need it,” said Garrick Rochow, vice president of energy delivery for Consumers Energy. “These cameras will be providing a view of the latest weather conditions constantly, just as we are on watch for bad weather around the clock.”

The cameras will provide round-the-clock footage of weather conditions in the communities served by Michigan’s largest energy provider and WILX-TV. Weather cameras already are providing footage in Lansing and Jackson, and soon will be operating in East Lansing, Charlotte and St. Johns.
