Riggs is 2014 Athena Award Winner

 Business and Professional Women President Stefanie Riggs received the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce’s Athena Award for 2014 on Jan. 23 at the Chamber’s annual meeting. The award honors women who demonstrate excellence, creativity and initiative in their profession; contribute time and energy to help improve the community; and actively assist women in realizing their leadership potential.

Riggs has been active in the rose Festival for more than 10 years and on the board for seven. She has been employed as director of public relations and marketing for Lloyd Ganton Retirement Centers for more than four years. She is currently a member of Kiwanis Club of Jackson, chairing its Community Relations and Service committee. Riggs is president of BPW, a founding and current board member of the Jackson Women’s Leadership Council of the United Way of Jackson, and board member of the Alzheimer’s Association Michigan Great Lakes Chapter and is the chair of the Jackson Alzheimer’s Walk. 
The Jackson BPW meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month at the Cascades Manor House at noon. The mission of BPW is to achieve equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy, education and information.  The vision of the organization is to create successful workplaces for women, their families, and employers.
