Hanging of the Greens set Dec. 5

Spring Arbor University invites the community to its 14th annual Hanging of the Greens Celebration on Friday, Dec. 5. Free of charge, the events provide a time for all to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas.

The evening will begin with a Christmas concert, performed by University students, in the Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church at 7 p.m. Following the concert, the community is invited to participate in a candle-lighting ceremony, featuring a Christmas carol sing-along and fireworks, sponsored by American 1 Credit Union. Afterward, families can warm up at a reception held in the Student Life Center at 8:30 p.m. All are welcome to decorate Christmas cookies, sip hot cocoa, enjoy roasted almonds and balloon animals and visit with Santa Claus. During the evening, families can ride throughout campus on horse-drawn Christmas wagons.
At 8:30 p.m., the Ganton Art Gallery will be open, displaying the best student artwork of the semester. This biannual show is the pinnacle event of the art department. Also, at 9 p.m. will be a reading by Dr. Wallis Metts from his book “The Santa Papers, St. Nicholas of Myra: The Unofficial Biography” in the Cougar Den.
