Exploring Modern Day Slavery

A presentation, ‘Stop Human Trafficking: Exploring modern day slavery in America” was held Aug. 24 at Jackson College. The guest speakers were Rebecca McDonald, Women at Risk, international president, international human trafficking activist; Jordan Ginsberg, assistant U.S. attorney, Eastern District of Louisiana, who has investigated and prosecuted federal trafficking cases and is a keynote speaker on human trafficking at the University of Chicago; Jerry Jarzynka, prosecuting attorney for Jackson County who leads the Jackson County Human Trafficking Task Force; and Crystal Cook, emergency room physician assistant active in the Women at Risk (WAR) program assisting victims and informing the public. Speakers described how to spot suspected human trafficking, how to help a victim, and legal issues.
