Care House hosts 'Fools for Kids'

Care House will hold its 15th annual “Fools for Kids” fundraiser for Monday, May 2 at Palazzo Grande in Shelby Township.

The evening will include a ceremony honoring 41B District Court Judge Linda Davis and Jean Cloud for their work to protect children and families in Macomb , according to Care House Executive Director Dorie Vazquez-Nolan.

“These two women have fought tirelessly on behalf of child victims and are truly deserving of our ‘Champion for Children’ award,” she said.

The fundraiser will feature a cruise ship theme, complete with food, raffles, a live auction and music.

Tickets cost $60 each and may be purchased by calling Care House at 586.463.0123. Sponsorship opportunities also are available.

All proceeds raised from the event will be use to enhance and expand services to help child victims of sexual abuse and their families, Vazquez-Nolan said.

Care House, located in Mount Clemens, coordinates the investigation and treatment of child sexual and severe physical abuse.

It’s mission is to prevent and reduce the incidence and trauma of child sexual and physical abuse in Macomb County, through collaborative, multi-disciplinary and effective family-centered activities.

The agency has conducted more than 3,600 forensic interviews of children, the director said, and has provided services to more than 6,000 families since opening in 1996.
