Miller Canfield recently hosted a Before the Bell Breakfast Forum covering “The Changing Rules – Suitability, Know-Your-Customer and Social Media” at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham. Among those taking part in the informative morning were (left to right) John Kelmigian, Brett Jackson, Doug Zack, Miller Canfield attorney Michael Coakley, Milan Stevanovich, Miller Canfield attorney Michael Simoni, Bruce Greening, Bloomfield Hills attorney Michael Kratchman, and Tom Wiggins. According to Coakley, the forum covered two new consolidated FINRA rules governing Know-Your-Customer (Rule 2090) and Suitability (Rule 2111) obligations of broker-dealers recently approved by the SEC as well as how the FINRA rules governing communications with the public apply to social media sites that are sponsored by a firm or its registered representatives.
