State Bar YLS schedules annual Summit

The State Bar of Michigan Young Lawyers Section (YLS) will host its sixth annual Summit June 7-8 at Greektown Casino & Hotel in Detroit.

The Summit is a statewide event designed to foster professional development and establish networking opportunities.

It will provide educational seminars, informational programming and social events designed to enhance the skill, knowledge, and understanding young lawyers have of the legal profession, according to organizers.

This year, Dennis W. Archer will serve as the keynote speaker and seminar topics will include criminal law, legal writing, oral advocacy, evidence, depositions, technology, social media and more.

Archer is chairman emeritus of the Detroit-based law firm of Dickinson Wright. He formerly served as mayor of Detroit and as a Michigan Supreme Court justice as well as president of the American Bar Association.

The Summit is sponsored by Affinity Consulting Group, Judeh & Associates, Brooks Kushman, Stevenson Keppelman Associates, and the Institute for Continuing Legal Education.

Attendees of the Summit can also join the YLS at 7 p.m. Friday, June 7 to watch the Detroit Tigers take on the Cleveland Indians at Comerica Park. Tickets must be purchased by May 5 for $30 each.

Prior to April 30, the registration fee for the Summit is $45 for section members and $30 for guests.

After April 30, registration goes up to $60 for section members and $45 for guests.

Section members get access to seminars, meals and the reception.
