In the new economy of today, where dollars for worthy nonprofit organizations are becoming increasingly precious, some good news could be reported this week by officials of the Oakland County Bar Foundation.

The message of glad tidings is courtesy of the OCBF’s friends at Stout Risius Ross, a firm that specializes in dispute advisory and forensic services.

SRR, which has been a longtime supporter of the Bar Foundation, will add to its legacy of local generosity by designating the OCBF as the “charity” of choice for the proceeds from an upcoming softball tournament.

Nicole Budde, SRR marketing coordinator, said the 5th annual Attorney Charity Softball Tournament will take place on August 24 at Inglenook Park in Southfield.

Each team has been asked to donate $350 to benefit the Oakland County Bar Foundation, she said.

The teams include Dykema Gossett; Butzel Long; Honigman Miller; Pepper Hamilton; Foley & Lardner; Clark Hill; Kitch Drutchas; and SRR.

“SRR has supported the OCBF for 10 years and we are excited to host this event to benefit the foundation this year,” Budde said.

Liz Luckenbach, president of the Bar Foundation, was heartened by the show of support.

“I was so proud of the Foundation when learning from SRR that it wanted to designate the OCBF as the charity to play for in its 5th Annual Charity Softball Tournament,” Luckenbach said. “It's a tribute to the hard-working members of the Foundation's Board of Trustees throughout its history, as well its supporters. The message of the good work that we do is spreading.”

The news comes on heels of the OCBF’s record-breaking Signature Event at Oakland Hills Country Club in April.

The spring gala helped raise more than $260,000 for the Bar Foundation’s legal aid and educational programs in the community.
