Getting up to speed on marijuana laws

The State Bar of Michigan Marijuana Law Section held its second annual conference at the MGM Grand in Detroit earlier this month, a three-day event attended by more than 150 people. On hand to welcome participants to “Marijuana Law: New Horizons for Medical Marijuana” were (left to right) MLS Chair Daniel Grow of Daniel W. Grow PLLC; Jeremy Unruh, general counsel for PharmaCann; and MLS Treasurer Bob Hendricks of Wrigley, Hoffman, & Hendricks PC. Attendees heard presentations from the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs on the implementation of the Facilities Licensing Act as well as presentations on a range of topics including tax and banking issues, the status of communities “opting in” to allow marijuana businesses, and defenses for marijuana-related criminal offenses.
