Students take over courthouse

Sixteen high school teams from Macomb and St. Clair counties recently competed in the Macomb Regional Mock Trial Tournament at the county courthouse in Mount Clemens. Anchor Bay, Cardinal Mooney and Richmond high schools won top honors in the competition, sponsored by the Michigan Center for Civic Education and organized by the Macomb County Bar Foundation. Among the judges on hand to hear the student presentations were Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Carl Marlinga (second from right) and Macomb County Probate Judge Sandra Harrison (far right). They are pictured with (from left) Lori Smith, president of the bar foundation, and Renee Tegel, foundation treasurer.
