Roadways to the Federal Bench

As part of its efforts to foster diversity in the bankruptcy bench and bar, the Judicial Conference of the United States Committee on the Administration of the Bankruptcy System presented “Roadways to the Federal Bench: Who, Me? A Bankruptcy Judge?” on Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Theodore Levin U.S. Courthouse in Detroit. In an effort to improve diversity in the bankruptcy bench and bar and the federal bench in general, the Judicial Conference of the U.S. Committee on the Administration of the Bankruptcy System hosted this simultaneous, nationwide event occurring live in 19 cities. An hour of “roundtable” discussions followed, where Eastern District of Michigan federal judges talked about their roadways and answered questions at a table. Every fifteen minutes, the judges moved to another table.  Among those participating in the event were U.S. District Court Judge Victoria A. Roberts; U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Joel D. Applebaum; U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Helene N. White; Crystal Price of Trott Law PC; U.S. Bankruptcy Court Maria Oxholm; Scott Davidson; U.S. District Court Chief Judge Denise Page Hood; U.S. District Court Judges Stephen J. Murphy III, Marianne O. Battani, and Nancy G. Edmunds; John Grant; U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Mona K. Majzoub; U.S. District Court Judge Laurie J. Michelson; U.S. District Court Magistrate Judges Stephanie Dawkins Davis and Elizabeth A. Stafford; U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Mark A. Randon; and U.S. District Court Judge Linda V. Parker.
