Farewell reception for bankruptcy judge

A retirement reception in honor of U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Marci B. McIvor (fifth from left) was held recently at the Rattlesnake Club in Detroit. An alumna of Harvard University, McIvor retired in early January following a 16-year career on the bench. She earned her juris doctor degree from Wayne State University Law School and formerly was an assistant attorney general for the State of Michigan before accepting an appointment to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan in 2003. Among the featured speakers at the reception were retired U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Steven Rhodes, now one of the principals in the Detroit office of JAMS; Chief Judge Phillip Shefferly of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court; Chief Judge Denise Page Hood of the U.S. District Court; and U.S. District Judge Nancy Edmunds, chair of the Bankruptcy Committee of the District Court. Pictured with McIvor are (left to right): Lisa Gretchko of Howard & Howard; Steven Howell of Dickinson Wright; Judges Hood and Shefferly; Lawrence Garcia, corporation counsel for the City of Detroit; Judith Greenstone Miller of Jaffe; Paul Hage of Jaffe; Judge Edmunds; and attorney Daniel Weiner.
