New expungement laws examined during online forum

The D. Augustus Straker Bar Association along with the Wolverine Bar Association, the  Black Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, and the Detroit Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Social Action Committee will present a "Virtual Educational Forum: Examining Michigan's New Expungement Laws" online Thursday, March 25, beginning at 6 p.m. via Zoom.

This free two-part public forum will feature a panel of experts who will detail provisions of the new expungement laws that go into effect April 11.

Panelists will include Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, state Rep. David LaGrand, Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Deborah Thomas, former state Rep. Sherry Gay-Dagnogo, attorney Stephanie LaBelle, attorney Robin McCoy, and community activist Karlo Harris.
