Society to host Advent Reflection Event

The Catholic Lawyers Society of Metropolitan Detroit will host an Advent Reflection Event (Feast of the Immaculate Conception) on Wednesday, Dec. 8.

Members of CLSMD will gather for 12:15 p.m. mass at Old St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greektown, followed by an Advent reflection with CLSMD Spiritual Director Msgr. Ronald Browne.

A boxed lunch will follow.

Critical race theory, immigration focus of ABA program

In an effort to create awareness around issues such as racial equity and social justice, the ABA Section of Civil Rights and Social Justice and the ABA Coalition on Racial and Ethnic
Justice will jointly host an online program, “A Social Justice Policy Summit: A New Administration,” Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 8-9.

Law experts, leading professors and advocacy strategists will explore topics such as critical race theory, voter suppression laws and the question of race and terrorists.

ACC and DIA join for African-American art presentation

The Association of Corporate Counsel, Michigan Chapter, will present the Virtual Social Event “In Our Own Voice: African-American Art” on Thursday, Dec. 16, from 4 to 5 p.m.
This final ACC-MI event of the year is sponsored by Brooks Kushman.
The program will enhance the awareness of the creative contributions of African Americans from the 19th century through the present day, according to organizers.
