Two Warner attorneys co-author new edition of commentary on the Estates and Protected Individuals Code

Grand Rapids, Michigan, April 9, 2012 – Mark K. Harder and John H. Martin, attorneys with Warner Norcross & Judd LLP, are co-authors of the 2012 edition of Estates and Protected Individuals Code with Reporters’ Commentary for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education.

The new volume, which was released recently, is the third edition of this publication and provides commentary on the meaning of Michigan’s laws dealing with probate, trusts, guardianships and conservatorships. Michigan’s attorneys and courts frequently refer to this publication to interpret and apply these laws.

Harder is a partner and practices in the firm’s Holland office. In 2009, he led the drafting of the Michigan Trust Code, which governs how trusts are established and administered in the state.  The MTC was more than five years in the making and provides a single-source, comprehensive and modern body of law to govern trusts.

Martin is an attorney with the firm and practices in the Muskegon office. He also serves on the faculty of the Ohio Northern University College of Law. In 2000, he led the drafting of the Estates and Protected Individuals Code, which updated Michigan’s laws applying to probate, guardianships, and conservatorships.

Both Harder and Martin have received numerous accolades for their legal work, including election to the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and being named to Best Lawyers in America and Michigan Super Lawyers. Both speak and write regularly on trusts and estates issues.
