Bar Association hosts Supreme Court Justice Brian Zahra for Law Day

The Muskegon County Bar Association invites its members to its annual Law Day Scholarship Award Luncheon at the Holiday Inn Muskegon Harbor on May 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event will follow the national Law Day theme, No Courts No Freedom No Justice.

In addition to the presentations that honor area students, educators, and our own Muskegon heroes, the luncheon will feature Michigan Supreme Court Justice Brian Zahra as keynote speaker. This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to listen to and ask questions of a sitting Michigan Supreme Court Justice.

Justice Zahra has served as a circuit judge in Wayne County, at the Michigan Court of Appeals, and now on our Michigan Supreme Court.

Justice Zahra has been active in many civic and charitable organizations, including Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan, Kiwanis Club International, Leadership Detroit, the Knights of Columbus, the Maltese American Community Club, and the Maltese American Benevolent Society, of which he is a past officer.

He is a board member and former officer of the Catholic Lawyers Society, and is also a member of the Federalist Society, having served as secretary and vice-president of the Michigan chapter.

Justice Zahra resides in Northville Township with his wife Suzanne and their two children.

The 2012 Law Day Chair is Dale J. Hilson
