Eric Stevens has been appointed to succeed Patricia Steele as Circuit Court Administrator/Friend of the Court upon her retirement on July 27, 2012. Steele has served in that position since 1998 and will be returning to her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.

Eric Stevens received his Juris Doctor degree from Creighton University School of Law in Omaha, Nebraska in 1993.  Shortly after he accepted a position with the Muskegon County Prosecutor’s office and moved with his family to Muskegon. He served with the Prosecuting Attorney’s office until 1999 when he accepted a position with the 14th Circuit Court as a Family Court Referee, becoming an Assistant Administrator for Operations/Legal in 2000.

Stevens is married with three children. He is active in the community, serving on the board of the Muskegon County YMCA and as a past board member of Muskegon Child Abuse Council. He coaches in the White Lake Youth Sports Club and Muskegon Lakers Organization.

Stevens has worked closely with the Circuit Court Administrator and the Court to establish an innovative approach to Court Administration. He has been instrumental in reorganizing many of the operational aspects of the Family Division to provide improved services to the court and the community in the face of ongoing budgetary and staff reductions. He hopes to continue to build on the foundation laid by Patricia Steele, the staff at the Muskegon County Circuit and Family Courts and many other community partners to continue to serve the children and families of Muskegon County.
