Muskegon County to celebrate Travel and Tourism Week

The 36th annual National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW) is May 5-11, 2019, and this year’s theme highlights the innumerable ways in which travel makes up the fabric of Muskegon County’s culture and economy. NTTW will celebrate a different facet of travel each day: the economy, new experiences, jobs, infrastructure, health benefits, hometown pride and how travel strengthens families. Each weekday, Visit Muskegon, Muskegon County’s destination marketing organization, is offering a free event that coincides with the appropriate facet of travel.

On May 6, there will be a  Social Media Happy Hour from 4:00-5:30 p.m. at Hennessy’s Irish Pub. Learn to create and maintain a Facebook Business Page.

On May 7, a Muskegon Convention Center Information Session from 4-5 p.m. will be held at Holiday Inn Muskegon Harbor.

May 8 will be the Muskegon Convention Center Groundbreaking Ceremony at Fourth St. and Western Ave., 11-11:45 a.m.

May 9 features a Lunch and Learn presented by the Hope Project from 11:00-11:45 a.m. at the Shoreline Inn. with education on human trafficking and how to present it while traveling. Limited to 30 people.

And on May 10, join the Visit Muskegon folks for a game of “Tourism Trivia” from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Pigeon Hill Brewery. Wrap up the week by testing your knowledge of tourism in Muskegon! Prizes include two round trip tickets on the Lake Express Ferry, a one night stay at the new Delta by Marriott, and two tickets for a cruise on the Aquastar. Register teams at 5:00.
