Area events go on despite weather

Two annual community events which took place last weekend struggled a bit with the weather.

Relay for Life, which raises money for cancer research and celebrates the lives of both cancer survivors and those who did not win their battles with cancer, is an overnight event where teams run around the track, at Mona Shores this year. Cold temperatures Friday evening may have meant fewer people showed up. The event went on, but donations are still sought:  https://secure.acsevents.org/site/STR/RelayForLife/RFLCY19NCR?pg=entry&fr_id=92123

The Community Family Fest at the Lakeshore Fitness Center – which used to be known as Mayfest and held at Muskegon Community College – had to bring everything indoors due to rain Saturday, but kids still had a wonderful time. Face painting, a bounce house, caricature portraits, balloon animals, crafts and more moved into the upstairs gym, while educational tables from community partners set up downstairs.
