Mona Shores victorious in state

The Mona Shores football team has won its first state championship ever this year, coached by Matt Koziak. The team beat out Detroit Martin Luther King for the Division II state title.

Last Tuesday, State Sen. Jon Bumstead and State Rep. Greg VanWoerkom welcomed the team to Lansing to be honored on the senate floor. l on Friday, Nov. 29 at Ford Field to lock in the title.

Said Bumstead, who is from Newaygo, “Congratulations ... Not many get to experience what these gentlemen are experiencing. It is a true honor to have them down here in Lansing. They did a phenomenal job representing their community. Go Sailors!”
