Library Offers ‘Draw Your Pets’ Class

The Muskegon Area District Library offers this online drawing class for the whole family, 7 p.m., Thursday, May 13, led by Corinne Roberts.

Use basic shapes and sketch lines to create your favorite furry friends. No prior drawing experience is needed. All you need is paper, a pencil, and an eraser.

Registration required on the madl.org calendar. A Zoom link will be emailed before the program.

‘Private Detective Kit’ for Youths

It’s Mystery month so let’s get to solving a mystery. Come and pick up your private detective kit from Hackley Public Library, 316 W. Webster Ave. Muskegon, including an invisible ink pen, and get started!

Craft kits are available to pick up from Hackley Library  through the end of month while supplies last. The Library is located on the corner of 3rd and Webster in downtown Muskegon.

A free instructional video will be posted on Facebook at 3 p.m. on Monday, May 17. This Youth Take &?Make event, sponsored by Friends of Hackley Library, is free.

‘Women At The Forefront’

“Women At The Forefront: Stories from the Permanent Collection” presents artworks by highly influential and successful women in exhibiting, teaching, innovating, advocating, and pioneering. This exhibition, running May 20-August 29, highlights the stories of these women through their art and accompanying text, calling attention to their achievements and celebrating the contributions of women through the decades.

Artists in the exhibit include Deborah Butterfield, Mary Cassatt, Elizabeth Catlett, Clarice Cliff, Imogen Cunningham, Judy Dater, Françoise Gilot, Malvina Hoffman, Käthe Kollwitz, Pauline Palmer, Alice Schille, Esphyr Slobodkina, and others.
