West Michigan Environmental Action Council (WMEAC) and the Michigan Chapter of the Sierra Club will host an educational seminar for local candidates in the Muskegon area on climate change science, the role of municipalities, and the city of Montague’s climate emergency declaration and its efforts to reduce greenhouse gases. Interested elected and appointed board and commission members, and residents are also welcome to attend.
The free virtual event is scheduled for September 23, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Panelists include: Dr. Janet Vail, research scientist emerita at GVSU Robert B. Annis Water Resources Institute; Tamara Horne, co-chair of the White Lake Area Climate Action Council, and Jeff Auch, Montague city manager.
The focus of the panel will cover climate change science, what municipalities can do to reduce greenhouse gases, and the city of Montague’s climate emergency declaration and efforts to reduce greenhouse gases.
